PAWTUCKET, R.I. — Rhode Island officials are pondering the way forward for a city-owned stadium considering that the minor league Pawtucket Red Sox have announced they prefer to leave for Massachusetts.
Worcester officials announced Friday they have designed a deal to give the Triple-A affiliate with the Boston Red Sox on the city. The Providence Journal reports that Minor League Baseball territory rules likely would prohibit another team still into Pawtucket's McCoy Stadium.
